Fiosrú says it's opened an investigation into the safety of his holster, after it was requested by the Justice Minister.
The Dáil has heard a new Garda watchdog investigation into the gun holster used by Colm Horkan is “complete nonsense”.
Detective Garda Horkan was killed in Castlerea, Co Roscommon, in 2020, when Stephen Silver took his official gun from its holster and shot him.
Mr Horkan’s family have since called for a public inquiry into the matter.
