COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The Plummer Home is helping veterans transition into independent living - thanks to several partnerships including organizations founded by former NFL player and Harris County football star Jordan Jenkins.

This means veterans will have a way to get off of the streets and have a step towards getting their life back on track.

One veteran says if it was not for the Plummer Home and these other organizations - he’s not sure where he would turn for help.

“I would probably still be on the street right now to be honest,” said Dominique Williams, veteran. “You don’t really get information when you get out about how you can get help from the VA and all that.”

Williams is one of over 800 veterans being assisted by the Plummer Home. He says he got out of the military in 2021 and after moving from state to state he could never find a job.

He says bills were piling up and he became homeless. That’s until he was brought to the Plummer Home and received assistance to get him on his feet.

Now thanks to the foundation and a real estate company created by Harris County star and former NFL player Jordan Jenkins, Williams is moving into a three bedroom house.

“If he didn’t put his effort in, I’ll probably be in another place and then I’ll have to worry about paying more bills and all that stuff so I mean the house came fully furnished. I didn’t have to put anything in here,” said Williams.

“I’ve been blessed in my life to be where I’m at and to be in this position,” said former NFL pro, Jordan Jenkins. “Why not try and do the same thing for someone else? it’s just something that I’m really passionate about and I just believe you pay it forward and this is my way of doing it.”

The house will be paid by HUD vouchers at market rate, set by the Housing…
