Jill Hazelbaker, who spent over a decade in senior communications and corporate affairs posts at Uber, joins OpenAI as chief corporate affairs officer.
Hazelbaker joined Uber as VP of policy communications in 2015, rising to president and chief corporate affairs officer, a position she was promoted to in May. In that position, she led global teams responsible for marketing, communications, public policy and safety efforts, as well as leading human resources, recruiting and real estate functions.
Before coming to Uber, she held senior communications posts at Snapchat and Google. She also served as press secretary in Michael Bloomberg’s 2009 mayoral campaign and national communications director for John McCain’s 2008 run for the presidency.
At Open AI, Hazelbaker will oversee the company’s communications and reputation, in addition to corporate brand and positioning, social media, cultural and community partnerships and convenings, according to a report in Axios.
