Gamers, it’s time to return to Azeroth with the highly anticipated release of “World of Warcraft: Forever.” As newcomers and longtime fans of the franchise prepare to play, here’s what you need to know about the game.

Like Blizzard Entertainment’s long-running mainline game and its “Classic” spinoff, “Forever” is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) set in the fictional world of Azeroth. Playing as elves, orcs, dwarves, and more, users create their own unique high fantasy character, often teaming up with other players online before embarking on various quests and battles against enemy factions.

According to a press release, “Forever” serves as “a new beginning” for the franchise, reimagining Azeroth with updated graphics and “revamped gameplay, all rooted in authenticity to the original WoW experience.” Users will have the option to choose between classic and enhanced settings, with the latter providing options like quest guidance and a single-bag view for item inventory. Players must choose between various rulesets in “Forever,” as well, instead of selecting a specific realm, with offerings ranging from normal and roleplay to player vs. player options (a “hardcore” mode is in the works for after the game’s launch).

Giving the original game a bit of a makeover, “Forever” will have new areas to roam and explore as players level up their characters, promising over 1,000 new quests and nine new dungeons. “Forever” also introduces Skyborne elves, a new race that players can select for their characters and can join either of the two available factions: Alliance or Horde. In addition to the new elves, users can try out new race-and-class combos ranging from orc mages and troll warlocks to gnome priests…
