Grand Theft Auto VI is so close to launching that I can already smell the salt air of Leonida.

On November 19, Rockstar Games will launch GTA VI on PlayStation 5 and PC - and if figures prove to be accurate, it looks set to potentially blow GTA V’s launch day record out of the water.

GTA V famously shifted over 11 million copies in its first 24 hours of release back in 2013.

According to Sensor Tower, GTA VI is believed to have sold around 7.7 million pre-orders, which means it’s almost beaten Cyberpunk 2077’s record of 8 million pre-orders to become the most pre-ordered game of all time.

Add in last-minute pre-orders and launch-day purchases from more casual gamers and those who end up with FOMO, and you can quite easily see how that GTA V 24-hour record might be squashed.

If you have pre-ordered GTA VI and simply opted for the Standard Edition of the game, it’s not too late to secure the Ultimate Edition.

Rockstar Games has made a £20/$20 upgrade path available on both the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store for those who have changed their mind, and it seems not that many people know the option is out there.

If you do purchase the upgrade, the £20/$20 price tag simply makes up the difference between the Standard and Ultimate editions, so you’re not paying an inflated fee simply because you’ve changed your mind.

GTA VI’s Ultimate Edition came under fire when it was first revealed, as it goes beyond featuring exclusive cosmetics.

The Ultimate Edition will lock entire stores behind its superior price…
