Samsung's sleep apnea upgrade is rolling out to Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Ring - Android Police

By Google News Technology ·

Despite big brands launching major wearables every year, most get lost in the mix because they don't offer meaningful improvements or changes over the previous model. Luckily, we're reaching a point where hardware matters less, and software now does the heavy lifting. Samsung just announced that its Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Ring will now get an updated Sleep Apnea feature (via Android Central).

Those that have a Galaxy Watch 9 or Galaxy Ring will be able to see the new feature in the Samsung Health Monitor app right now. Samsung states that the update will offer an "enhanced algorithm" that "analyzes a user’s vitals during sleep in greater depth."

Because of this, users will get better insights "into the level of breathing disruptions detected — going beyond the previous sleep apnea risk assessment to deliver more comprehensive, meaningful information."

Naturally, this won't fix the condition, but it can be useful when speaking to professionals about your condition. It might even be something you never knew you had a problem with. If you get bad sleep or wake up in the middle of the night gasping for air, it might be worth checking out.

Notably, Samsung is proud that this feature is now available on its Galaxy Ring. The brand launched its first Ring back in 2024 and has steadily added features over time. While folks hoped that something new would be released, Samsung has stuck with this model.

It's important to note that this feature does have regulatory approvals from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the South Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. While health and fitness metrics from activities are important, it's also important to get the proper rest.

The updated Sleep Apnea feature is well worth taking a look at if you're a Galaxy Watch 9 or Galaxy…
