Football Looks to Host Buffalo in Second Week of Midweek MACtion
MUNCIE, Ind. â Ball State football enters its second midweek MACtion game of the season as it hosts Buffalo on Nov. 11, following an overtime loss Wednesday night at UMass. Head coach Mike Uremovich, Jalen Bonds and Stu Smith joined the media Friday morning to discuss another conference battle.
Uremovich emphasized the importance of moving on to Buffalo and preparing for another physical matchup.
"I know this group, and I know that they've showed up every week after a challenging start to the season and showed up ready to work," Uremovich said. "Right now, if we're looking at anything other than Buffalo, we're not doing our job."
The Cardinals will face a Buffalo offensive unit that Uremovich believes is improving every week at this point in the season.
"They've got the leading rusher in the conference, and they've got an outstanding receiver core," Uremovich said. "We have to pick our spots, and that could be the most challenging matchup for us, being able to stop the run and still be able to help our guys in the secondary."
Uremovich described the Bulls' physical defense as a challenge Ball State's offense will have to overcome.
"Their front seven is probably as complete and as big and physical as anybody that we've played this year," Uremovich said. "That's a battle that we have to win to be able to run the football."
Bonds said the Cardinals must believe in their physical rushing approach to set the tone for the entire game.
"I really believe in our scheme," Bonds said. "We hit [UMass] in the mouth first, and that's how we were able to have those runs and those drives that we had."
Smith said Ball State's mindset has remained focused throughout the season and that the team is improving…
